This meditation is from my collection Meditations for My Loved Ones. Sitting comfortably, begin with deep slow breaths from deep down in your stomach. Say the following words to yourself in your heart.
Breathing in, I am centred
Breathing out, I am connected
Breathing in, I am loved
Breathing out, I am interconnected
Visualize your family members’ faces
As you breathe slowly and deeply in and out,
Picture each of their faces
Visualize your ties with each one
As beautiful silken connections
That shimmer and hold the light
Of the energy and life giving sun
You see the radiance
And the beauty
Of your interconnections
With your family
Now say in your heart
My family is strong
Our ties that hold us
Together and connect us
Are true and beautiful
And strengthening as time goes on
Our family connections are interwoven
With beauty and grace
Mercy and love
They are magical and wondrous
Tender and gentle in their strength
Flexible and yielding
These family bonds
That connect me
To my loved ones
Are so strong
That they give me strength
The strength to go on
During difficulties and
The courage to continue
When faced with turmoil
They raise me up and build me
And allow me to grow wings and fly
To become who I don’t yet know I can become
And each family member
Will feel the strength of our beautiful
and draw nourishment and sustenance
As we grow and support
In our family
I am grateful for
Our strong loving family.
Sit for a time until you are ready, and then write in your journal on the following topics or whatever is in your heart.
1. What does a strong family look like to you?
2. Are there certain family members you would like to have stronger bonds with? And why is it important to you?
3. What are some ways that you can strengthen your bonds and ties with those family members? And continue to strengthen your relationships with your already close family members?
4. Write a list of five things that you are grateful for about your family.
